LA LIGA FANTASMA | THE PHANTOM LEAGUE

Impresión risográfica sobre cartón negro a dos tintas, realizada para la exposición La liga fantasma de Saúl Hernández Vargas. Esta impresión se distribuyó el día de la inauguración. La imagen muestra moldes de cera, realizados por el abuelo materno del artista, de piezas prehispánicas encontradas en la Tumba 7 de Monte Albán, Oaxaca. En palabras de Saúl, artista y escritor, "el archivo de La liga fantasma es una serie de 'esculturas' (de barro) que intenta resucitar objetos que se creían muertos. Two-ink Risograph print on black card stock, produced for the opening of The Phantom League, an exhibition by the Oaxacan artist Saúl Hernández Vargas. The image seen in the print shows lost wax casting molds---made by the artist's maternal grandfather---of pieces of jewelry found in the Tumba 7 at Monte Albán, Oaxaca. In the artist's words, "La liga fantasma’s archive includes a series of clay 'sculptures', and its purpose is to resuscitate objects thought to be dead.
